Angela was asked about how she works with people that struggle with stress or anxiety and those that have suffered trauma in their lives. She said:
“When working with someone who has experienced a traumatic event or series of traumatic events, I believe that it is important to approach treatment from a compassionate, empathetic and calm space. A traumatised person deserves a great deal of respect, understanding and guidance to allow them to have a safe space in which to identify, understand and develop skills to manage the broad range of triggers that they deal with on a day to day basis.
I do not approach trauma or the pain that accompanies it, as something that we can eliminate from our life. The pain and the memories that led to that pain will always be there, it is out capacity to cope that changes. My goal is to work with an individual to develop strategies that allow them to better manage their experience.”
