Supervisor of Provisional Psychology and Therapy Assistants

Dr Ashley Gault is a Clinical Psychologist with over 8 years experience working with children, young people and families. Ashley is a caring, warm and welcoming therapist who prides herself on building effective therapeutic relationships with children and young people. She strives to make therapy approachable and fun, to enable her young clients to feel open to explore their thoughts, fears and worries in session. This can then provide a foundation on which she can provide individualised, strengths-based approaches to enable children and young people to build resilience in the face of life’s problems as they grow and develop.

Ashley is trained in assessing and treating a range of common psychological problems; including stress, anxiety disorders, low mood/depression, self-esteem, behavioural difficulties, social difficulties, school refusal and bullying. She is also experienced in assessing and working with individuals with
neurodevelopmental disorders including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

A key part of her work is ensuring that parents feel involved in their child’s care; and supported to better understand and respond to their child’s behaviours and difficulties, using individualised, structured methods including parenting programmes. As a first step, Ashley will guide her clients through a comprehensive assessment of current areas of concern. This involves speaking with the child or young person, their parents/families, teachers, and other individuals who are involved in their care. This ensures that a holistic approach is taken when developing a therapy plan. Ashley will then provide evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to enable her clients to overcome their difficulties and flourish.
