Dr Nick Marsden is a clinical psychologist who provides expert psychological support and therapy to help individuals overcome their struggles and build a balanced and values-driven life. Dr Nick also helps children, adolescents, and parents to better understand and manage emotional and behavioural difficulties. Through building and fostering emotional intelligence in their children, parents can help them to develop resilience, enhance learning potential, and cultivate stable and healthy friendships with their peers. Dr Nick Marsden will work with you to develop an individually tailored plan to meet your needs. Dr Nick integrates a variety of modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy skills (DBT-skills), and systemic/family systems therapy techniques. He will adapt treatment to help you achieve emotional wellbeing and balance in your life.

Dr Nick Marsden works closely with local paediatricians and psychiatrists and is a member of a multidisciplinary assessment team for Autism Spectrum Disorders and other Developmental Disorders, CHAMPS. He conducts comprehensive assessments of Autism at the Kids Clinic with the use of the gold standard assessment measures, the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) and the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R). 

Education & Experience

Dr Nick Marsden holds a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology and Master of Science degree from the University of Sydney, NSW, Australia, and a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology Honours) from the University of Wollongong. He is an Advanced Schema Therapist and a member of the International Society of Schema Therapy. He is a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) College of Clinical Psychologists, a Member of the APS and Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA), and an Adjunct Fellow of Macquarie University. He has undertaken specific training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy, family therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and the assessment and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. Dr Nick Marsden has worked in mental health with adolescents for over 17 years and his experience as a clinical psychologist ranges from private practice, community mental health, and in acute psychiatric hospital settings, delivering effective treatment to adults, as well as children, adolescents, families, and couples.
