Emma Blacklaw
Provisional Psychologist
“Everything is always working out for you at any given point in time”
Make a bookingEmma is a true Wollongong local with a relatable, down-to-earth personality, who creates strong relationships with those she sees. Emma has spent several years working with children, young people, families, and young adults, at Marsden Psychology. She has developed an artful talent for gently weaving in skills-building therapeutic support whilst nurturing a young person’s interests and strengths. She also values collaborating with the families she works with, whether that involves improving the environment, sibling harmony, or parent-child relationships, so that days feel calmer and more manageable. Emma developed Chronic Fatigue Syndrome when she was 16 and spent many years overcoming the illness whilst continuing to complete high school and beginning university studies. It was her own experience of managing a severe illness that fast-tracked her insight into the importance of holistic and interdisciplinary supports to maintain good physical and mental health.
Like so many, Emma has had various goals through life, and has followed her interests from soccer coaching to beauty therapy and social media influencing, to develop a unique breadth of knowledge and wisdom. Her interest in pursuing studies in psychology was piqued when she met her neighbour, Dr Kathryn Berry, who was a child psychologist and she got a peek into this caring, creative profession. Emma gained important experience at the Child and Adolescent Psychology Services in Miranda, and is now working diligently towards her general registration as a psycholologist.
Emma’s favourite pastime is walking on the beach with her dog (that is, when she’s not producing social media content for her dog’s Instagram channel and managing her dog’s influencer lifestyle). She has a particular skill for sniffing out the latest alternative health options, whether it’s mushroom tea or a ketosis diet, and is always up for a chat and a laugh.
