Rebecca Richards
Provisional Psychologist
"It's okay if you fall apart sometimes. Tacos fall apart and we still love them."
Make a bookingRebecca is a warm, dedicated and compassionate psychologist who works with children, adolescents, and parents, providing tailored support for a range of challenges, including behavioral difficulties, anxiety, neurodivergence, low mood, and complex family dynamics. She is passionate about building meaningful therapeutic relationships based on trust, collaboration, and understanding. Rebecca takes a positive and supportive approach, recognizing and building on each person’s strengths. She uses well-researched methods to help individuals and their families develop important life skills. Her goal is to create a safe and welcoming space where clients feel understood, valued, and empowered to navigate life’s challenges with confidence.
Rebecca’s journey into psychology was driven by a deep fascination with the human mind and a natural desire to support others. From an early age, she sought to understand people on a deeper level, which led her to explore the field of mental health. To ensure this path was the right fit, she began as a mental health support worker, gaining invaluable hands-on experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. This role not only solidified her passion but also taught her the importance of empathy, active listening, and seeing the world through others’ perspectives.
As a Positive Behaviour Support practitioner, Rebecca developed key skills in understanding and managing challenging behaviors with care and practical strategies. She learned how to assess individual needs, create personalized support plans, and work closely with families, teachers, and other professionals to bring about positive change. This experience helped her recognize that behaviors often have deeper causes, and she became skilled at helping individuals find healthier ways to cope and communicate. Through her experiences, Rebecca learned that no two people are the same, and a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy is ineffective. She values openness, adaptability, and compassion, tailoring her methods to each client’s unique needs.
Rebecca fills her cup with good coffee, fresh sourdough, beach walks, and plenty of time with friends and family. She’s on the hunt for her first home and quietly dreaming of carving up the fresh powder on a ski trip to New Zealand.
