Can I claim a Medicare rebate on my sessions?
If you present to your appointment with a GP referral letter and a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) you will be able to claim up to ten sessions in a calendar year. The rebate amount varies, depending on the service you pay for. We will take full payment for your session on the day of your appointment and provide you with a receipt that you can use to claim the rebate.
How do I claim my Medicare rebate?
There are two ways to claim your rebate from Medicare:
- Take you receipt into your local Medicare office and claim over the counter
- Use your MyGov account details and the Express Plus Medicare App. For detailed information on how to download and access the app, please follow this link for more instructions – https://www.humanservices.gov. au/individuals/services/ medicare/express-plus- medicare-mobile-app
Once you have downloaded the Express Plus app and logged in using your MyGov account details, the claiming process is fairly straightforward. You will need to follow the prompts on the app, it will ask you for the following information:
- Psychologist name and provider number
- Referring Doctor details
- Date of referral
- Service type / Item Number – this is the description of the service listed on the receipt
- Cost of the service
The app will then prompt you to take a photo and upload it to complete your claim.
If there is any information missing on your receipt please call us on 0411 542 624 so we can assist you. For any Medicare related issues it is best to call them directly to discuss.
